DJ Michael Maxim
|
It's
4 am and the bass is pumpin'. The music couldn't be anymore hypnotic.
The crowd couldn't be dancing any harder. The DJ feels the vibes
and couldn't have a bigger smile on his face. CD's are being thrown
and scrambled throughout the crowd, which resembled hungry sharks
yearning to satisfy their cravings. The entire dance floor is interacting
with Michael Maxim which is always occurs at the scene where he
is spinning. Whether it be a small venue such as Shorty's in Baltimore
(Charles Feelgood's Bar), a medium sized rave somewhere on the East
Coast or a large nightclub such as Buzz (voted number one nightclub
in America by URB Magazine), Michael Maxim is always in touch with
the crowd in some way. There is something to be said about a DJ
that is so passionate and motivating behind the decks as Michael
is. The talent that the crowd receives is not only superb mixing
and track selection but also a performance that most DJs spend a
lifetime trying to achieve. The experience is so invigorating that
club-goers leave his events saying "Not only did he toss me a free
CD, but also he was so much fun to watch and dance with". Michael
Maxim believes that if you can show your passion and devotion to
the crowd through music, they will show their appreciation by their
intense and amazing movements on the dance floor.
Michael
Maxim's passion began on the dance floor back in Baltimore warehouse
parties in the early 90's. He was introduced to the sounds of Electronic
Dance Music, while attending events by the now nationally acclaimed
"Ultraworld Productions". Michael has been on both sides of the
booth as someone who enjoys dancing and interacting with the DJ
and actually as the DJ who makes the crowd interact with him. Having
experience on the dance floor is necessary for him to know how to
work the crowd and it has proven to be a positive affect.
Michael
Maxim has played along side some of the most elite names in industry.
As a mid-morning DJ or a closing DJ, Michael has begun to make a
name for himself all over the East Coast and beyond. DJ's such as
Bad Boy Bill, Meat Katie, Way Out West, Tall Paul, Elite Force,
Scott Henry, Charles Feelgood and many more are not uncommon names
when you pick up a flyer with Michael's name on it. In the past,
Michael has been noted to play some of the most funkiest house sets,
but after participating in the "Battle of The Breaks" at Buzz in
March 2002, with partner Mark Forrest, Michael decided to stick
to his roots and play what he feels moves the crowd the most: breakbeat.
If you are fortunate enough to catch Michael Maxim in action out
at a club this summer, you will single handedly see that break-beat
is Michael's forte.
Michael
Maxim will not stop with appearances at events like Buzz or various
raves / warehouse events in the Baltimore / Washington region. As
of June 2002, Michael and partner Christopher Johnson of Scratch
Traxx have been heading up the promotion / production and are in
the process of launching another super club on the East Coast. KLEEN
(now branded as METRIC) opening on June 6th in Baltimore, MD. As
Michael and Christopher strive to rekindle the flame in Baltimore's
Electronic Dance Music Community with national and international
talent headlining their event each week. With Michael's promotional
ability, DJ'ing skills, and past resume, he would definitely be
a hard person to pass up when contemplating which DJ to add to your
lineup.
