Versatile,
bold, raw, powerful, and moving. These are a few of the words used
by partygoers to describe any one of Chris' sets. From his opening
chunky UK 2 Step inspired breakbeats, trademark main-room stompers,
or one of his signature vocal closing sets, Chris receives rave
reviews regardless of the city or venue played. Chris is one of
a dying breed of DJ that realizes that there is more to being a
dj then simply mixing great records; you have to please the crowd.
Chris is constantly interacting with the crowd, be it teasing them
with his flawless cutting, pulling tricks out of his sleeve, throwing
his arms in the air, or flashing his classic smile at the dancers
on the floor.
As
one of the founding fathers of the Central PA dance music scene
Chris has experienced all aspects of EDM culture. Nurturing the
a new genre of music in a region typically know for being ultra-conservative,
Chris along with fellow pioneers built a truly underground following
by throwing weekly warehouse and house parties. At its height, "The
Space Warehouse" would host up to 500 people on its dance floor
on any given night. Eventually the word spread and local top-40
dance club owners forced the night to come to an end. After the
rise and fall of the ground breaking New Energy Parties in York
PA, Chris along with partner Jerramey Sin seized the opportunity
and started their own weekly parties, Elevation and Pulse at the
now legendary Zodiac Club. Leveraging his earlier success in Lancaster
PA, Chris convinced the club owners to completely switch their format
to the underground dance scene. Chris and Jerramey completely re-defined
clubbing in York. They brought the Baltimore vibe and style that
they had grown up with 60 miles north. The Zodiac parties ran until
August 2000 until once again local law enforcement closed the doors
to the venue.
The
late 90's-early 00's have been a time of evolution for Chris. He
has since moved to Baltimore which has allowed him to successfully
make the transition from local DJ to an established member of the
region's dance music scene. Chris has been billed with some of the
largest names in the industry, allowing him to gain exposure and
build a following, which was needed to propel him to the next level.
2002 has been pinnacle for Chris' DJ career. He along with partner
Michael Maxim formed Baltimore largest weekly event since the mid
90's, Kleen Baltimore. Kleen Baltimore brought the best in international
DJ talent, reviving a starving scene and giving birth to a new breed
of promotion. As a result, Chris and Michael have accelerated their
careers beyond their current regional status.
Thriving on the success of Kleen, Chris and Michael sustained their
partnership in a new venture, TechnoMetrics. TM is not only the
production/promotion team responsible for the weekly Kleen and Metric
parties at Baltimore's Redwood Trust, but it is also the alias that
the duo assumes when they perform together. With multiple appearances
slated at the nations #1 dance club, Buzz, and the regions largest
raves and weeklies. Chris is poised to begin making waves on a national
level, with upcoming gigs in several of the nation's premier cities.
Be on the lookout for his first album release in 3 years. It showcases
Chris' utilization of distinctively different genres to create the
best, in a truly timeless mix.
The
true essence of Christopher Johnson is one that can not be described
with words. It is artful, imaginative and must be seen live for
true impact. His energy and ability to connect with the crowd make
his performances more then simply "great sets", they are unforgettable.
